One of my favorite things to do is take a walk along the Sandwich Boardwalk. It doesn't matter whether it's the bitter cold of January or a sunny July afternoon—the views never disappoint. Afterward, it's easy to spend time exploring the Historic Village before enjoying lunch at one of Sandwich's many excellent restaurants.

Boating, Dining, and Life Along the Canal

For those who enjoy being on the water, the Sandwich Marina provides direct access to the Cape Cod Canal. From there, boaters can head east into Cape Cod Bay or west toward Buzzards Bay. There are also plenty of waterfront restaurants along the Canal and wonderful dining options throughout the Historic Village.

History Is Everywhere in Sandwich

Heritage Museums & Gardens offers beautiful gardens, classic automobiles, and seasonal exhibits, while the Sandwich Glass Museum gives visitors the opportunity to watch skilled artisans create hand-blown glass using techniques that have been part of the town's history for generations.

During the holiday season, one local tradition that should never be missed is the Sandwich Giants created by artist Michael Magyar. These larger-than-life sculptures have become a community favorite, bringing residents and visitors of all ages together to celebrate the season.

Enjoying the Outdoors in Every Season

Outdoor recreation is one of Sandwich's greatest attractions. Spend the day exploring Town Neck Beach or Sandy Neck Beach, launch a kayak in East Sandwich, hike through Shawme-Crowell State Forest, or discover one of the many conservation trails throughout town.

Whether your interests are hiking, fishing, cycling, boating, or simply relaxing by the water, Sandwich offers opportunities to enjoy the outdoors in every season.

Homes That Reflect Sandwich's Long History

Sandwich's housing stock reflects the many generations that have called the town home. In and around the Historic Village, buyers may find homes dating back to the 1700s and 1800s, including traditional Cape-style homes and other antique properties filled with character. Elsewhere in town, there are established neighborhoods of ranches, Colonials, and contemporary homes, along with newer construction, condominiums, and homes near the beaches, marshes, ponds, and golf courses.

Each area of Sandwich has a somewhat different feel. Some buyers are drawn to the history and walkability of the Village, while others prefer the quieter neighborhoods of East Sandwich, the remoteness of Forestdale, or a location close to the marina and Cape Cod Canal. Older homes may require thoughtful updating, but they often offer craftsmanship and details that are difficult to reproduce today. Every time I spend a day in Sandwich, I discover something I hadn't noticed before. Whether it's a quiet side street, a favorite restaurant, an antique home, or another beautiful view along the water, it is a town that never loses its charm.

The more you explore, the easier it becomes to understand both the variety of homes available and why Sandwich has remained one of my favorite Cape Cod towns.
