 Being the first town over the Cape Cod Bridges, Bourne offers the convenience of easy access on and off Cape while maintaining the charm of a close-knit coastal community. Whether you're commuting to Boston or Providence, searching for a year-round residence, retirement home, or summer getaway, Bourne offers an ideal balance of accessibility and coastal living.  

 

Life here revolves around the water.  Buzzards Bay, the Cape Cod Canal, public beaches, and numerous harbors provide endless opportunities for boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing, fishing, and cycling.  One of my favorite places is the Cape Cod Canal, where the seven-mile recreation paths on both sides are ideal for walking, biking, fishing, and stopping at canal-side restaurants along the way.  

 

 One of Bourne's most recognizable landmarks is the Bourne Railroad Bridge. Completed in 1935, it remains fascinating to watch as massive vessels glide beneath the raised span—something no other Cape Cod town can offer. Boaters also enjoy convenient public launches at Taylor's Point, Monument Beach, Barlow's Landing, Red Brook Harbor, and other locations throughout town, making it easy to spend the day exploring Buzzards Bay and Bassett's Island.  

 

 

There's always something happening in Bourne. Summer evenings might include Bourne Braves baseball, concerts at Buzzards Bay Park, sunsets at Monument Beach, or walks through hundreds of acres of conservation land. History lovers will appreciate the Aptucxet Trading Post, the Saltworks, Gray Gables Railroad Station, and the beautifully restored Cataumet Schoolhouse. I still remember when the schoolhouse sat boarded up for years, so it's especially rewarding to see it restored and serving the community once again.  

 

 Housing in Bourne is as diverse as its villages. From historic homes and classic Cape Cod cottages to waterfront properties, established neighborhoods, and newer subdivisions, there's something here for first-time buyers, retirees, and vacation home buyers.  Having lived and worked in the Upper Cape area for many years, I enjoy helping buyers discover not only the right home, but the village that best fits their lifestyle.
